Choropleth Map
It is a powerful visualization tool that allows users to display boundaries of regions. It uses color scales to show variability across different regions. All this can be achieved if the user have the Geojson file for the same to create boundaries.
The term "Choropleth" itself is derived from the Greek words "choros" (area/region) and "plethos" (multitude), highlighting its ability to reveal the multitude of data within specific geographic regions.
Key business benefits to user:
- Users can visualize regional data patterns identify hotspots, explore geographical trends and gain deeper insights into their spatial data.
- Users can color the whole region based on a measure such as sales, profit margins etc., this is not feasible through maps which are based on latitude and longitude since they plot a single marker and not whole region.
- Geographic Insights: Gain a deeper understanding of your data by visualizing it on a map. Identify regional disparities, trends, and patterns that may not be apparent in traditional charts or tables.
- Decision Support: Make data-driven decisions by analyzing geographical data in context. Choropleth maps help you assess where your products or services perform best and where improvements are needed.
- Enhanced Communication: Communicate your findings effectively to stakeholders by presenting data on a map, making it easier for non-technical audiences to grasp insights.
Key areas of applications:
-
NeighbourhoodsSales and Marketing: Analyze sales performance, market penetration, and customer distribution by geographic regions.
-
